Welcome to the page for Etmaal 2023! The next 24 Hours of Communication Science conference will be held on February 2nd and 3rd, 2023, in Enschede, the Netherlands, and hosted by the University of Twente. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our campus!
We consider this Etmaal to be a special edition, as it is the 25th Etmaal conference and the first physical-only edition since February of 2020. Therefore, we are planning this event to be an unforgettable experience and a great chance to reunite with our colleagues and spark new network contacts. To help us keep an eye on the future while also taking stock of the last decades of communication science research, our theme is ‘Communication in Transforming Societies’.
Next to catching up with colleagues’ advances in research in regular sessions, Etmaal 2023 will host various keynotes that touch on the dynamic developments in (digital) society, from the seminal works of the past years, through pertinent current issues, to experiences and expectations at the forefront of technological developments. We also plan to introduce a new session format focused specifically on early-career researchers to engage with each other as well as more experienced scholars. More information on these special sessions will be shared later.
The venue for Etmaal 2023 is the living smart campus of the University of Twente. Sessions will take place in the U Parkhotel, the Cubicus building, and other campus locations. For the dinner and party on Thursday we invite you to the center of Enschede to enjoy a diverse range of cuisines and engage with each other in a laid-back setting.
